The October/November 2022 examinations were the first time SACAI offered the General Education and Training Certificate: Adult Basic Education and Training (GETC: ABET) qualification as an accredited assessment body. This examination session bore testimony to the investment in the ABET sector that SACAI persists in making and the rewards we hope to continue to reap for many sessions to come.

324 candidates registered to write the October/November 2022 examinations from 32 centres across the country. The overall pass rate was 71% of learners who wrote. Natural Science saw the most significant performance improvement, with 79% of the candidates passing this subject. Mathematical Literacy also saw a gain of 38% pass rate. Candidates who achieved merits worth mentioning came from Pilanesberg Platinum Mine (22 merits), Corkwood Academy (9 merits), Kloof AET Centre (4 merits) and Bana Ba Thari (2 merits).

SACAI congratulates all the GETC: ABET candidates that wrote the October/November 2022 examinations.

SACAI was honoured to accept an invitation to attend Sibanye Stillwater’s Beatrix Mine graduation ceremony for the AET Class of 2022. It was a festive occasion with live performances from the AET choir and motivational speeches from Sibanye’s management. SACAI commended Sibanye’s celebration and acknowledgement of the academic performances of its AET learners. However, adult basic education needs more advocacy, and this was a shining example of the outcomes of committing to and championing this program. Something that SACAI continues to invest in.

With that, another hearty congratulation to the graduating class of 2022.
